Mahjong Shifu
Terms of Use
These terms apply to your use of Mahjong Shifu, an educational app for learning Chinese Mahjong. If you download the app from the App Store, your use is also subject to Apple's applicable terms.
Agreement with Mahjong Shifu
These terms are between you and Mahjong Shifu, not Apple. Mahjong Shifu is responsible for the app and its content, except for matters handled by Apple under Apple's own terms, such as App Store distribution, payment processing, refunds, and platform services.
License
Subject to these terms, you receive a limited, personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive license to use Mahjong Shifu on Apple-branded devices that you own or control, as permitted by the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions and applicable App Store usage rules, including Family Sharing where available.
Educational use
Mahjong Shifu is provided for learning, practice, and entertainment. It does not provide gambling services, real-money play, betting, lotteries, sweepstakes, or prize campaigns.
Your responsibility
You are responsible for using the app lawfully and for following any local rules or restrictions that apply to Mahjong, games, purchases, devices, and online services in your location.
Age and supervision
If you are under the age of majority in your location, you should use Mahjong Shifu only with permission from a parent or legal guardian. Parents and guardians are responsible for supervising use by minors and for any purchases made through their Apple account or Family Sharing settings.
Purchases and Apple services
Paid unlocks, if offered, are processed through Apple In-App Purchase. Apple may manage billing, taxes, refunds, purchase history, Family Sharing availability, and restoration according to Apple's own terms and policies. Mahjong Shifu does not receive your full payment card details or Apple ID payment credentials.
Subscriptions
If Mahjong Shifu later offers auto-renewable subscriptions, the app or App Store product page will describe the subscription content, price, billing period, renewal behavior, free trial terms if any, and cancellation method before purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled in your Apple account settings according to Apple's rules.
Refunds and cancellation
Refund requests for App Store purchases are generally handled by Apple. If you experience a purchase restoration issue inside Mahjong Shifu, contact support@mahjongshifu.com and include the device, app version, and purchase flow where the issue occurred.
No account required
The first App Store release is designed without Mahjong Shifu user accounts. Learning progress is stored locally on your device unless a future cloud feature is introduced with updated terms and privacy disclosures.
Acceptable use
You may not misuse Mahjong Shifu, interfere with its operation, bypass purchase controls, attempt unauthorized access, copy or extract substantial parts of the content, use the app to violate law, or use the app or website to harm, harass, deceive, or infringe the rights of others.
Content and intellectual property
The app, lessons, writing, artwork, interface, and related materials belong to Mahjong Shifu or its licensors. You may use them for personal, non-commercial learning. You may not copy, resell, redistribute, reverse engineer, or use the materials to create a competing product except where allowed by law.
Mahjong rules and learning content
Mahjong rules, scoring practices, table etiquette, and terminology vary by region, group, and house rule. Mahjong Shifu aims to teach useful Chinese Mahjong concepts, but it should not be treated as an authoritative rulebook for every table, tournament, venue, or jurisdiction.
Availability and changes
We may improve, change, pause, or discontinue parts of the app over time. We try to keep learning content accurate and useful, but Mahjong rules vary by region and table. The app may not cover every house rule or local variation.
Privacy
Your use of Mahjong Shifu is also governed by the Privacy Policy. You should review the Privacy Policy to understand what information is stored locally, what information may be received through support emails, and how purchase processing is handled by Apple.
Third-party terms
Your download and use of Mahjong Shifu through the App Store may also be subject to Apple terms, device settings, Family Sharing settings, and other platform rules. If there is a conflict, these terms apply only to the relationship between you and Mahjong Shifu to the extent allowed by law.
No warranties
Mahjong Shifu is provided as is and as available. To the fullest extent allowed by law, we do not guarantee uninterrupted access, error-free lessons, or that the app will meet every individual learning need.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, Mahjong Shifu is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the app.
Consumer rights
Nothing in these terms limits rights that cannot be excluded under applicable consumer protection law. Some regions do not allow certain warranty exclusions or liability limitations, so parts of those sections may not apply to you.
Export and legal compliance
You are responsible for complying with applicable export control, sanctions, import, consumer protection, online service, and local laws that apply to your use of Mahjong Shifu in your region.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms when the app, legal requirements, or business practices change. The updated version will be posted on this website with a new last-updated date. Continued use after an update means you accept the updated terms where permitted by law.
